Dow names new CEO as predecessor moves to executive chair role

Effective July 1, 2026, Jim Fitterling will become executive chair of the board, and Karen S. Carter, currently chief operating officer, will become Dow’s CEO and join the board of directors.

Fitterling has led Dow through a period of transformation, strengthening the company’s strategy, advancing sustainability and reinforcing a culture focused on safety, performance and inclusion. As executive chair, he will focus on long-term strategy, governance and external relationships. Carter has more than 30 years of experience at Dow. She has led operational execution and value creation across the company.
