ExxonMobil planning $1B-plus delayed coker unit in Belgium
ExxonMobil today announced it would spend more than $1 billion to install a new delayed coker unit at its refinery in Antwerp, Belgium. ExxonMobil acknowledged the struggles faced by the European refining sector in a statement released today, but said the investment represents a long-term view. The company said the new coker unit is but the first of several projects being evaluated to enhance its refining capability throughout Europe.
ExxonMobil has invested more than $2 billion at the Antwerp refinery in less than a decade, including a new 130-megawatt cogeneration unit and a diesel hydrotreater.
