Equistar La Porte plant shuts down LDPE unit
Equistar Chemicals shut down its AB3 low density polyethylene (LDPE) unit in La Porte, Texas, over the weekend, Platts reports. According to a filing with Texas regulators, Equistar was in the process of restarting the unit Saturday when a reactor cycle valve closed, resulting in a buildup of pressure. The system was later depressurized to prepare for maintenance, the company said. The nature and length of the maintenance activity is not yet known.
