Pasadena Refining chemical release prompts shelter-in-place

A sulfur dioxide release at Pasadena Refining on Monday prompted a shelter-in-place in Galena Park, Texas. The release also led to the temporary shutdown of the Houston Ship Channel. The company secured the leak and the shelter-in-place was lifted.

Reuters reports that the refinery suffered a power outage due to heavy rain and thunderstorms in the area.
