Nationwide expansion strengthens industrial and commercial capabilities
ScaffSource
To know the customer, walk a mile in the customer's shoes.
For ScaffSource, that idea is more than a metaphor. It reflects realworld experience earned on the jobsite.
"Many ScaffSource leaders and managers worked in scaffold, soft-craft or fields that required access solutions. Customers enjoy doing business with us because we understand their priorities and how they want to be treated," said Shawn Mills, senior VP of ScaffSource and a 24-year veteran.
ScaffSource, one of the largest direct rental companies in the U.S., is transforming how it serves industrial and commercial contractors. Building on its 30 years as a provider of scaffolding and shoring equipment, ScaffSource recently expanded its offerings.
More access solutions
"Our growth plan is simple: talk to customers, identify pain points and find solutions," said Mills. "We source products the industry relies on and make them more accessible, more affordable and combine them with ScaffSource's best-of-class customer service and delivery accuracy."
All ScaffSource locations now offer:
- Swing stages manufactured by Bee Access in West Palm Beach, Florida and powered by the BISOMAC 308 Traction hoist, known for low maintenance and high reliability
- Material hoists from GEDA, featuring German engineering in cable hoists (265-lb. capacity) and rack-and-pinion models (660- and 1,875-lb. capacities)
- IXI Truss systems, modular aluminum trusses that can span up to 100 feet or more, replacing expensive steel beams with lightweight, bolt-together sections
- Shoring, including 20-kip frame shoring, post shores, drop head systems and MASS (Modular Aluminum Shoring System) shoring
- Composite wood replacement products, which halve the weight of traditional lumber with five times the lifespan
While historically focused on petrochemical, refining, offshore, manufacturing and power generation markets, ScaffSource is expanding into commercial construction. The company has experienced double-digit year-over-year growth since its 2022 rebrand from United Scaffolding; a trajectory Mills expects to continue and accelerate.
Growth in high-demand markets
ScaffSource opened a new location in Lakeland, Florida, to serve one of the fastest-growing regions in the country. This store is unique among ScaffSource locations because it gives contractors direct access to PPE (including harnesses and retractable lifelines), lumber, nails, #9 tie wire and equipment rentals.
"Lakeland offers contractors one-stop shopping to save sourcing time and money," said Mills.
In Q2 of 2026, ScaffSource plans to open a Phoenix location to support growth in the Southwest. Arizona's construction-sector GDP1 rose from $9.33 billion in 2012 to $36.71 billion in 2024, driven by the AI boom (including Intel and TSMC chip plants) and factory, warehouse and logistics expansion.
With the Phoenix addition, the company will have eight regional distribution locations, including Houston, Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, Denver, Lakeland, Bakersfield and Baton Rouge. These facilities, along with strategically placed depot yards in places like St. Louis, Sulfur and El Paso, enable ScaffSource to reach any major U.S. market within one or two days.
"It's not uncommon for us to receive a call for a 10-, 20- or 30-truckload order and start shipping the same day. Most of our competition doesn't have that response time or our stringent quality control processes," said Mills. "When customers work with ScaffSource, they tell us we're different. That's because we've been in their shoes and structured ScaffSource to be the company they always wanted."
