DEER PARK, Texas — The Wheelhouse recently opened a new facility to serve as a bare bones living environment that offers help to alcohol-addicted men.
The building, which is located at 210 W. Helgra in Deer Park, Texas, received its funding from individual donations, fundraisers, The Wheelhouse graduates, and foundations and grants. The new building is designed to serve 50-60 men whereas the last building served 20-24 men. Increases in the number of men served will be incremental over the next two to three years.
“Our vision is to serve more men at The Wheelhouse, eventually serving 50 men,” said Ralph Russo, The Wheelhouse’s chairman of the board of directors. “We also want to have multiple daily meetings, which resemble 12 step clubs that offer meetings such as Alcoholics Anonymous, for more people in and outside the house.”
