ALVIN, Texas — Reactor Resources (RxR) recently completed its 50th hydrotreater sulfiding project utilizing its Online H2S Analyzer system, which replaces the practice of measuring H2S levels using colormetric (draeger) tubes and open sour hydrogen sample ports. Due to the hazards associated with H2S, operators who are sampling with draegers are typically required to wear a self-contained breathing apparatus, but RxR’s Online H2S Analyzer is a closed system, so operators are never exposed to high levels of H2S.
The Online H2S Analyzer connects wirelessly to RxR’s SmartSkid Injection System, which broadcasts the H2S levels and pump telemetry to the Internet. By accessing a secure Web page, anyone associated with the sulfiding can constantly monitor H2S, dimethyl disulfide (DMDS) injection rates, the total DMDS quantity injected, pressure, temperature and valve position.
