NEDERLAND, Texas — Industrial Safety Training Council (ISTC) recognized 101 contractor companies for outstanding safety achievements for work performed in the Gulf Coast area during the calendar year 2015.
The awards presentation took place during the annual Safety Awards Banquet May 24 at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Beaumont Plaza.
Kelli Phillips, co-host of Texas Country Reporter, made the presentations to 101 contractor members. A total of 222 awards were presented for years worked, hours worked, incidence rate reduction and sustained performance of “zero” incidence rate.
ISTC’s “Safety Trainer of the Year” award recognizes an outstanding safety trainer who has contributed to the success of a company’s safety program and has received outstanding recognition as a trainer. ISTC’s 2016 “Safety Trainer of the Year” is Sally Larrabee, safety director for PCO Division II. Larrabee has over 15 years’ experience training co-workers and volunteers in all safety aspects.
ISTC’s most prestigious award — the Roy Comeaux Safety Excellence Through Training Award — was presented to Cooling Towers of Texas, located in LaPorte. Cooling Towers of Texas has been in business for 11 years, it has 120 employees and it specializes in cooling tower repair, maintenance, upgrades, new tower construction and FRP conversion, PMs, engineering, parts and fan locks. The other finalists for the award were Steel Painters Inc., Triple “S” Industrial Corp. and Zachry Group.
