BAYTOWN, Texas — B&G Crane Service LLC recently had its parent company’s crane simulator from Canada on display. The intent of the simulator from NCSG Crane and Heavy Haul Services was to provide evaluation of skills related to crane operation and initial and refresher safety training.
“The Vortex VX Master Simulator is a state-of-the-art crane simulator that allows us to not only objectively measure crane skills but also train new operators in a low-stress and risk-free environment,” said Steve Fryer, corporate manager of training, NCSG Crane and Heavy Haul Services. “It can be used to coach seasoned crane operators on skills improvement, ensuring they stay at the top of their game by comparing against previous assessments. In addition, it allows us to introduce emergency scenarios such as loss of rigging, high winds, fog, snow and other environmental conditions that we could only talk about before. Now we can prepare operators to manage those worst-case scenarios in a low-stress environment.”
