Renewable energy is accounting for more electricity generation than it ever has before, according to the Department of Energy. Via FuelFix, renewables produced more than 10% of power generation in the U.S. for the first time in March. Hydroelectricity production has increased due in part to the easing of a West Coast drought. Wind and solar power production have increased as well due to lower costs.
Last month the American Wind Energy Association reported that new wind energy construction announcements surged 23% between the first and second quarters of this year.
