A pair of companies planning LNG export terminals on the Texas Gulf Coast took key steps in moving their projects forward this week.
Texas LNG Brownsville began the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) pre-filing process Monday. Texas LNG plans to build its facility in two phases, each of which will add production of two million tons per year. Phase 1 is expected to begin operating in 2020 pending all necessary approvals. The facility will be located on a deepwater frontage site along the Port of Brownsville. Texas LNG secured funding for the project in December.
Meanwhile, Houston-based Annova LNG Common Infrastructure kicked off the FERC pre-filing process for its proposed terminal along the Brownsville Ship Channel. Via the San Antonio Business Journal, construction could begin as soon as September 2017.
