Yuhuang Chemical Inc. will begin building a $1.85 billion methanol plant in St. James Parish, Louisiana, later this year, the company announced today. Via New Orleans CityBusiness, the methane-to-methanol plant will produce 1.7 million metric tons per year of commercial grade methanol. Construction of the first of three phases will begin in the fourth quarter of this year.
Yuhuang Chemical is the North American subsidiary of Shandong Yuhuang Chemical of China.
