Dow Chemical and Saudi Aramco will begin production this year at a $20 billion joint venture chemical plant in Saudi Arabia. Via Bloomberg, Sadara Chemical Co. will initially produce ethylene and polyethylene, with full output expected in late 2017.
Last month Shell and Qatar Petroleum scrapped plans to build a $6.4 billion petrochemical complex in Qatar, citing high costs and low oil prices. Additionally, Saudi Aramco suspended plans for a $2 billion clean fuels plant in Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia.
