Some U.S. refiners could cut their processing rates amid the limited availability of Canadian crude, Reuters reports. About 1 million barrels per day of oil sands crude is still offline due to wildfires that have ravaged the town of Fort McMurray, Alberta, over the past two weeks. Sources say refineries that process lots of Canadian crude — such as Phillips 66’s Wood River, Indiana, site and BP’s Whiting, Indiana, refinery — could be challenged to find alternate feedstock sources.
