Cheniere Energy will push back the first shipment from its Sabine Pass LNG export facility until late February or early March, the company announced Thursday. The first cargo was originally set to ship later this month, but instrumentation issues discovered during final commissioning of the first liquefaction train prompted the delay.
Cheniere Interim CEO Neal Shear said the company remains well ahead of schedule with contractor Bechtel and it expects no issues in meeting its contractual targets and completion dates.
Sabine Pass is one of six LNG export under construction in the U.S. It will be the first to ship LNG overseas.
