BASF announced today it is evaluating the construction of a new methane-to-propylene complex on the Gulf Coast. BASF said it would be the firm’s largest single-plant investment to date, though it did not give a specific location or a capacity estimate.
“BASF intends to further strengthen its backward integration into propylene and grow its propylene-based downstream activities, leading to a stronger market position in North America,” the company said in a statement.
