DuPont on Tuesday announced it would cut 1,700 jobs in its home state of Delaware next year as it prepares to merge with Dow Chemical. Via Bloomberg, the move is part of DuPont’s previously announced plan to trim its global workforce of 63,000 by 10%.
Announced earlier this month, the $130 billion merger will ultimately result in a split into three separate companies operating in the agriculture, commodity chemicals and specialty products sectors. DuPont and Dow said they expected to save approximately $3 billion in the deal.
