UTICA, N.Y. -- Northern Safety & Industrial is not just a supplier, but a partner always looking to increase its clients efficiencies. One example is Northern Safety's relationship with National Oilwell Varco (NOV) since December 2015.
"NOV was sourcing all product lines from five to six different suppliers. We were able to consolidate and minimize the products they were using as well as replace the company's vendors," said Northern Safety Gulf Coast Vice President of Sales and COO Kenneth Roush. "That improvement reduces inventory, number of purchase orders processed and, ultimately, man-hours spent."
"Before entering into our strategic partnership with Northern Safety, there was no consistency in obtaining the safety supplies we needed. With Northern Safety managing our tool cribs on-site, it's a huge relief. Whatever we need, they have quick access to it at the best price available," said NOV Pressure Control Group HSSE Manager Robert Gussman. "They provide for our personal protective equipment and health and safety needs. But Northern Safety provides more than just safety equipment, as they provide slings, hooks, shackles, secondary containment storage bins, fall protection, painting supplies, welding hoods and supplies. Northern Safety has been a great addition to our team at NOV."
Northern Safety is currently managing five tool cribs and 13 vending machines across nine departments. The company is pleased with the progress made so far, but Northern Safety knows there is always more that can be done. Northern Safety is in constant contact with NOV's senior procurement specialist and category manager, looking for more ways to increase the company's efficiencies.
"The work Northern Safety and NOV are doing together will not only save time and increase efficiencies for both companies, but it will also save NOV hundreds of thousands of dollars," explained Gussman.
