PBF Energy’s Delaware City, Delaware, refinery shut down on Saturday after a power outage that may have been triggered by a snowstorm. Via the News Journal, the shutdown was accompanied by flaring of hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide and hydrogen cyanide. No injuries were reported. PBF is investigating the cause of the power outage.
The weekend blizzard dumped more than 20 inches of snow on some parts of the East Coast, shutting down governments and schools and grinding air and road traffic to a halt. More than two-dozen fatalities have been attributed to the storm, according to the Associated Press.
