BP’s Whiting, Ind., refinery is working to complete the restart of an FCCU that had been shut since March, Reuters reports. A source said the unit is running, but BP is troubleshooting to identify any potential issues. The FCCU went out of production in early March and was restarted before being shut down again for repairs. It is the smaller of two FCCUs at the Whiting refinery.
The Whiting refinery suffered other upsets in late February, including the shutdown of a crude distillation unit and a compressor malfunction in an FCCU pollution reduction system.
