The Supreme Court on Monday declined to take up an industry challenge to ground-level ozone pollution standards. A group representing mining and power generation companies appealed a lower court ruling that upheld the 75-parts-per-billion standard enacted under President George W. Bush. The EPA is considering lowering the current standard — a move industry analysts say would cost the economy $270 billion per year and millions of jobs.
