When we announced the joining of HydroChem and PSC last year, we knew that by bringing the collective strengths of both legacy companies together, we would truly be stronger together. Together, we would offer more to our customers than any other service company. That vision has crystalized into the Four Foundational Elements of HydroChemPSC.
HydroChemPSC will lead the industrial services industry in safety and environmental compliance. This is element No. 1.
Interestingly, the two legacy companies approached safety from two different angles. In becoming the pioneers in handsfree hydroblasting, HydroChem dramatically improved its safety record through technology. On the other hand, PSC's safety journey was primarily focused on behavioral-based safety. Adopting the Loss Prevention System (LPS) in 2012, which is used by ExxonMobil and Chevron worldwide, PSC saw significant improvements in its safety record.
Together, with the best technology coupled with a world-class behavioral-based safety system, HydroChemPSC will lead the industry in safety. And with our CLEAR (compliance, leaks, emissions, action and repair) environmental and specialty mechanical services offerings, which include vapor control technology and fugitive emissions monitoring and repair programs, we can help our clients manage all their emissions control challenges.
At HydroChemPSC, we are also striving to make safety personal through our PromiseMe series. In our line of work, a lot of things can go wrong if we get distracted from the task at hand even for a second. And though we can eliminate risks through procedure and engineering controls, and by equipping our employees with the tools and knowledge to make safe choices, it still comes down to each of us making safety a personal priority. In PromiseMe, we are connecting with our employees through a series of short, compelling videos of actual employee family members discussing their desire that their mom, dad, husband or wife comes home safely at the end of each shift.
These videos are frequently shared at allhands safety meetings and can be viewed by anyone at www.promiseme.com.
Technology and innovation, Hydro- ChemPSC's second foundational element, naturally follows our commitment to safety, as mentioned above. HydroChemPSC will be known for providing the best available technology in all we do, whether in hydroblasting, tank cleaning, chemical cleaning, vapor control, or fugitive emissions monitoring and leak repair.
While our industry has come a long way in recent years, particularly with innovative hands-free hydroblasting automation, there is more work to do. Entry-less tank cleaning, for example, is a goal for HydroChemPSC, as it would eliminate the risks associated with confined-space entry.
With continuous improvements in technology, led by our team of engineers at our Ohio Technology Center, not only will our technology provide safer, more efficient solutions for our customers, but it will also help us attract the best employees.
This leads to our third foundational element: people. We know how tough it is to recruit and retain good people, but we will be the best at this by offering prospective employees the very best place to work, where they can truly make a career at HydroChemPSC.
First, we will attract them with our newest and safest equipment fleet. Who doesn't want to operate and work around new equipment? And not only will it be new; it will be equipped with the best safety features available, such as manual ground verification systems on all vacuum trucks.
We will also continue to invest in automation, which helps us provide much more appealing working conditions.
We will also offer our employees an accelerated career development track that links completion of our NASA-inspired craft certification modules with wage progression. Over the first two years of a technician's career, for example, he or she will have a well-defined career roadmap. This helps great workers stay engaged.
A third important piece to being the "employer of choice" lies in the broad set of services HydroChemPSC can offer to our customers. Our ability to attract high-performing site managers is strengthened by the opportunity they have to manage broader scopes of work -- for example, at a nested customer site. It's one thing to manage dayto- day vacuum and hydroblasting services. It's quite another when you add engineered services such as routine tank cleaning, chemical cleaning and LDAR.
Good leaders want the opportunity for increased responsibility. HydroChemPSC's broad and diverse service offering provides room to grow.
And finally, it's about our customers, element No. 4. We will strive to be the most admired company when it comes to how we relate to our customers through transparency and accountability to continuous improvement. The centerpiece of this commitment is our customer stewardship model.
This model has three essential dimensions:
1.Leverage. Our broad service offering allows us to provide efficiencies associated with bringing several scopes of work under one umbrella. For example, where you may have two site leaders, two safety supervisors and two admins managing routine industrial cleaning and LDAR work, we can eliminate one of each of those positions by consolidating both services under HydroChemPSC. Furthermore, the more scopes of work we control, the more opportunities we will find through cross-training technicians and integrating work schedules, thereby managing peaks and valleys.
2.The second area deals with our benchmarking capability. HydroChemPSC is embedded in over 100 refining and petrochemical sites across the nation. This gives us the ability to quantify benchmarks on resources such as headcount and equipment count per unit of plant capacity, as well as best practices and technology selection. We can then compare one customer's situation to the benchmarks to give us direction on where to look for new efficiencies.
3.And lastly, we will roll out our standard key performance indicator (KPI) stewardship reports on a quarterly basis, which will both hold us accountable to how we are spending our customers' money and identify improvements in how work is planned and executed. As we develop cost savings opportunities from the KPI reports and benchmarking studies, we will hold ourselves accountable to their implementation. We want to own the budget our customers set for our work and the improvement targets to help us reach our cost goals.
With the right culture, the best tools and the best people, we will attract and retain the best customers.
So, what makes HydroChemPSC different? The difference is found in our Four Foundational Elements: safety, technology, people and customers. This is who we are. This is how we will operate. This is what sets us apart from the others.
