Union workers at Marathon Petroleum’s Galveston Bay Refinery on Tuesday ratified a new contract with the company, ending a more than four-month strike. Via FuelFix, a federal mediator worked with both sides to come to agreement on local issues involving changing work schedules and safety procedures. The workers will start going back to the refinery July 6.
The United Steelworkers union and lead industry negotiator Shell struck a national agreement in March, but workers at several plants remained on the picket lines due to various local issues.
