The fire affected a heating unit associated with the reformer, which was being shut down for 10 days of planned work.
Meanwhile, firefighters extinguished a fire in an electronic waste recycling bin at Chevron’s El Segundo, California, refinery on Saturday. Chevron said the fire was not related to its operations or the refining process. No injuries were reported.
