NEW ORLEANS (KLFY)— The United States Coast Guard and other agencies responded to an oil spill near Bay Long, according to officials, via klfy.
A news release states that Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report that approximately 5,300 gallons of crude oil leaked from a pipeline.
A spokesperson with the Coast Guard said the pipeline had been secured.
Harvest Pipeline Company, the owner said the leak was caused after the pipeline was struck by a Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company vessel that was conducting excavation operations.
An incident Command Post was set up in Grand Isle to manage the response operations.
