A 600-foot-high smokestack at U.S. Oil and Refining Co. in Tacoma, Wash., caught fire this morning, sending a large plume of black smoke into the air. Via MyNorthwest.com, the local fire department said the stack was not expected to collapse, despite an earlier report to the contrary. The fire has been extinguished, and no injuries or evacuations have been reported.
