A platform in the Gulf of Mexico shut in production and evacuated 28 workers after a compressor fire, Bloomberg reports. No workers were injured aboard Texas Petroleum Investment Co.’s platform, which is located in Breton Sound Block 21 near the coast of southeast Louisiana. A 1.4-mile rainbow sheen was seen drifting in the water near the platform. A Coast Guard crew is fighting the fire.
Earlier this week a pipeline owned by Plains All American ruptured near Santa Barbara, Calif., and leaked an estimated 21,000 gallons of oil into the Pacific Ocean.
