According to Mark E. Lashier, President and Chief Executive Officer of Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, “the future of petrochemical industry could not be more bright.” But there’s always room for improvement.
“Lessons learned will drive efficiency in the next wave of investment,” Lashier said. Implementing a three-pronged approach, Lashier suggested at the World Petroleum Conference 2018 by IHS Markit, held recently in Houston, Texas, can improve productivity. Lashier recommended that owners and managers hire experienced craft and supervisory; manage not only the design phase but also the design basis; and utilize contractor planning tools to initiate early construction-based planning, also known as AWP (advanced work packaging).
