Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Executive Director Richard Hyde, P.E. announced his retirement, effective this April. He will be stepping down as E.D. at the end of March but will remain at the agency through April to ensure a smooth transition.
A successor has yet to be announced.Hyde has served as E.D. since January 2014 but has worked in state government for more than 25 years. He began his career as a permit writer with the Texas Air Control Board, a predecessor agency of the TCEQ, in 1992.
He has since worked in several areas of the environmental agency, including as director of the Air Permits Division, deputy director of the Office of Permitting and Registration, deputy director of the Office of Compliance and Enforcement, and deputy executive director. TCC commends Mr. Hyde for his service and leadership as E.D. of TCEQ.
