-Russian firm EuroChem Group AG has delayed its plans to build a $1.5 billion ammonia plant in Iberville Parish, La., due in part to international sanctions against its home country. Via Bloomberg, Eurochem CEO Andrey Ilyin said U.S. and European sanctions against Russia over the Ukraine conflict have affected his company’s ability to access credit. In addition, the ruble’s recent 46% decline against the dollar has made such projects more attractive in Russia. The company announced in 2013 it would build the plant in Louisiana and purchased a 2,150-acre site near Carville.
-Delek Logistics Partners and Plains All American Pipeline are partnering to build a $100 million pipeline connecting Plains’ Longview, Texas, terminal with refineries in Shreveport, La. Via FuelFix, the 80-mile pipeline will transport 80,000 barrels of crude oil per day to Shreveport refineries and Delek’s refinery in El Dorado, Ark. The 50/50 joint venture project will be completed in mid-2016.
-Cheniere Energy last week received a key approval from the Port of Corpus Christi to begin building its $12 billion LNG export terminal at the port. Via the Houston Business Journal, Cheniere is expected to start construction in the next 60 days. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the project in December.
-Sempra Energy — developer of the Cameron LNG facility in southwest Louisiana — has begun the pre-filing process for its proposed Port Arthur LNG export terminal. The facility is designed to include two liquefaction trains with a total export capability of 10 million tons per year. Sempra has also applied to the Department of Energy for permission to export LNG.
-Southwestern Energy agreed to sell its conventional oil and gas assets in East Texas and the Arkoma Basin to a private buyer for approximately $218 million. Last week the company announced an agreement to sell its gas gathering assets in Pennsylvania’s Bradford and Lycoming counties for $500 million. Both deals are part of an acquisition-financing plan.
