Houston-based energy holdings firm Par Pacific Holdings has acquired the Wyoming Refining Co. from Black Elk Refining for $271 million, the company said Thursday. The 18,000-barrel-per-day is located in Newcastle and serves downstream markets in the Rapid City, South Dakota, area, among others.
Par Pacific CEO William Pate said the acquisition would add “geographic diversity” to his company’s portfolio. Par Pacific owns refining and logistics assets and a retail distribution network in Hawaii and interests in gas-producing assets in Colorado. It also transports, markets and distributes crude oil from the Western U.S. and Canada to the Midwest, Gulf Coast and East Coast.
