According to Shree Vikas, director of market intelligence and business analysis for ConocoPhillips, the supply of natural gas in the United States is not only plentiful, but represents an increasing percentage of total gas supply.
Addressing delegates to the 2018 ADI Natural Gas and NGL Forum held recently in Houston, Texas, Vikas said that shale gas represents two-thirds of U.S. natural gas production, with a growing trend total, adding that “most of supply growth has occurred in Appalachia,” thanks to the Marcellus and Utica plays.
Colin McHattie, director of technical assessment, new ventures unconventional and mature fields, for Halliburton and Diptabhas Sarkar, lead engineer of project management and control for Statoil, joined Vikas was joined on a panel focusing on upstream and supply. Tulio Scacciati, strategic energy advisor and mergers and acquisitions executive for ADI Analytics moderated the panel.
