The United Steelworkers union has rejected the latest contract proposal from lead industry negotiator Shell, prolonging a nationwide refinery workers’ strike that began Sunday. Via FuelFix, the union has planned a second march in downtown Houston and a rally in front of Shell’s Louisiana Street headquarters today. It is the sixth offer from Shell to be rejected by the union. The previous contract expired Sunday.
The strike has affected nine refineries and chemical plants in the U.S. Other facilities are operating under rolling 24-hour contracts.
