ExxonMobil global technology sponsor of research and engineering, Jamie Gerbrecht, said he believes owners appreciate contractors who demonstrate “a solid execution approach” when bidding for an advance work packaging (AWP) project contract.
“The more you practice workface planning, the better you can present something to owners that they can appreciate, and it’ll stand out,” Gerbrecht said in a presentation discussing experienced and inexperienced contractor and subcontractor selection for AWP-based projects at the 2017 AWP Conference held recently in Houston. Gerbrecht also advised contractors that they may gain competitive advantage by identifying safety hazards to owners and communicating how those hazards can be mitigated.
Michael Van Swol, vice president of project development for Jacobs Engineering, joined Gerbrecht in the presentation.
