Chevron and Shell have evacuated personnel from offshore oil platforms and LyondellBasell is deploying sandbags at its facilities as Tropical Storm Bill bears down on the Texas Gulf Coast, Reuters reports. Gulf of Mexico oil production has not been affected, but flooding in Texas could hinder some work in the state’s oilfields. Ten or more inches of rain are expected in the Houston area by Thursday.
FuelFix on Monday reported Enterprise Products Partners had evacuated about 20 employees and contractors from three offshore platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. BP, ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil indicated operations at their facilities would continue as normal.
