Statoil reported that at 1.15 p.m. Oct. 25, there was a report of a gas leak at its Mongstad plant. The situation was quickly resolved and was under control at 2.30 p.m.
In compliance with instructions, an evacuation alarm was put into effect and Statoil’s contingency organization was alerted. No one was injured during the event.
The incident was caused by a hydrogen discharge in the petrol plant. This part of the plant is being shut down and depressurized. The situation was under control at 2.30 p.m, Statoil stated in a release.
