ExxonMobil has evacuated non-essential personnel from an oil and gas processing facility near Santa Barbara, California, as wildfires in the area rage out of control. A company spokesman told CBS Los Angeles employees who remain at the facility are helping to protect it from the blaze. ExxonMobil operates the Las Flores Canyon Oil and Gas Processing Facility, which receives and processes oil, gas and liquids from production platforms off the coast of Santa Barbara.
The two-square-mile fire has forced people from homes and campgrounds in the area. It has also led to the closure of Refugio State Beach, which was shut down for months last year following an oil spill from a Plains All American pipeline.
